About The South African Clinician Scientists Society
Our Mission: The South African Clinician Scientists Society (SACSS) works to actively reverse low medical research output by establishing structural pathways that integrate research, teaching, and advanced clinical medicine.
Formed as an innovative response to national healthcare shortages, SACSS equips a new generation of doctors with dual training in research and basic sciences. Inspired by the legacy of the late Professor Bongani Mayosi and launched in 2018 under the leadership of Prof Salome Maswime, the society now fosters research-driven health solutions across 8 leading South African universities.
